Hi, I'm MJ Whitley and welcome to my world!  Please feel free to check out the wide variety of photos I've taken and posted here.  Photography is a labor of love for me.  You'll notice that I have a particular fondness for the intricacies in the elegance of nature, as well as a penchant for taking shots of people amidst the natural beauty of the great outdoors. 

I love to take pictures of kids because they're so unhibited and fresh faced.  With my grandkids I can't seem to put the camera down, and I've found that a great photo does not necessarily have to include a big cheesy smile to effectively capture that perfect moment in time.  This is also true for spontaneous pictures that otherwise might be tossed out because they lack good composition or have something 'funky' in the background ; tweaked just a little, these shots can end up being a great keepsake for that memorable event! 

This is a snapshot a friend took of my husband and me that had a bunch of people dancing behind us.  I got rid of all the distractions in the background, and now we have a great framed 8x10 in our home.  Check out my Indoor Solutions Album for before and after photos.

I've had an avid interest in photography for as long as I can remember, and spent many hours with my Father while he shot black and white photos all over Europe, and then developed them in the darkroom he made in our family's second bathroom.  I would describe myself as a non-traditional or unconventional photographer, and love to be challenged by new ideas and concepts.
